Slim Fast Review

All items reviewed in this blog post were received free to me from Influenster and Slim Fast in return for honest feedback.

So slim fast has come out with a line of new and improved products to help you with weight loss. I really like the simplicity of following the new program and it makes dieting and calorie counting easier. On the slim fast program, you are allowed to have a shake or bar for two of your meals per day, two 100 calorie snacks, and a sensible dinner. As a new mom, I dint have the time to divvy up 100 calorie portions of my snacks, so like the preportioned snack bags available. Below are the 4 products I received and my review of each.

My first product to try was the chocolate shake which I used as a breakfast meal replacement. I will say I had this with a banana and lots of water, and it surprisingly kept me full until snack time. I did definitely need the snack after a few hours though, which is a great part of the SF plan with built in snacks between meals. I enjoyed the taste and texture of the shake. I didn't taste the fake chalky chocolate taste that many shakes have. It didn't taste like chocolate milk, which I don't like, but kind of like a treat. I found the portion size to be adequate and really a full size drink rather than a small one. I like the product is gluten and lactose free and also has a lot of protein. I typically don't enjoy meat in the mornings for my protein, so this was an easy way to get that in.

The other meal replacement product was a bar. I felt like the bar was delicious, but not as filling as the shake. It was ingested Mich faster than the shake just because of its small size, didn't contain all of the nutrition added in a shake, and was definitely nowhere near as filling. To me, this would be more of a snack type item. However since its considered a meal replacement, it seems to have a lot of calories for just a bar. Most other granola type bars of that size tend to be between 100-130 calories, and the slim fast one is 180. On taste alone though, it was amazing! I was a little Leary of the salt with chocolate taste, as that isn't a combo I usually like, but they weren't too salty and the flavors blended well together. I always love a bar with real nuts and ingredients where you can see exactly what you're eating and they are in mostly whole form.

Laneige BB Cushion Review

Here is my short video review of the Laneige BB Cushion.

Trying this product came about from being a member of Influenster. I had never heard of or tried Laneige before the campaign. This was a little different as the product was not free. I had to go out and buy it myself then complete some activities and enter a contest after trying.

I purchased my BB cushion in store from Target. I was a little set back by the price of $34, especially since I was buying at Target, and probably wouldn't spend that much money on it again. I will say it comes with a refill, so technically you are getting two for that price.

Overall I liked the product, it's all in one qualities (especially the sunscreen). However after long term wear, I felt it never really "dried" and remained wet and sticky on my face all day long, until I cleaned it off at night.

Pampers Cruisers

  • A few days ago, we received a sample box of Pampers Cruisers diapers (size 3) free from Influenster and Pampers.
Smell...
Immediately upon opening the box, I could smell the fresh "baby" scent without even opening the plastic wrapping. While for some people I see how this could be off-putting, I really enjoyed it and like the fresh scent. As my little guy wore them, I noticed that the scent stayed throughout the entire time. He also didn't get a funny smell after peeing. I have noticed that some other diapers, even scented, seem to really have a funky slightly sour smell...but not these! Every time I picked up or moved the little guy I got that nice whiff of freshness.

Fit...
While these were a little big for my guy (they only come is sizes 3 and up) they still fit on him enough to test. Right away I could tell they were a better fit because through the center they were narrower...and with my guy's chubby little legs, they fit in between much better! Also such a small detail but made a big difference for me was the pull tab size. The tabs are much wider than other brands which helps them to cling to the front of the diaper better and also provides more coverage for side leaks. Also because of the stretchiness of the tabs, they could fit a huge variety of sizes. For me this was a positive because I feel like he could be in a smaller size for longer, which we all know the smaller size packs come with more diapers.

Holding up...
So without looking like a deprived child, I will say I constantly monitored the diaper for wetness, bm, and leaks the whole time! This diaper stood up like a champ! My little guy wore his size 3 for probably around 8 hours before he really needed to be changed. Their slogan is "sag to swag" and it's totally true! His diaper was completely full, but not heavy or saggy, or wet to the touch! I love that this kept the wetness off his skin and he didn't have a saggy diaper looking like he hadn't been changed in hours. For me this is a big positive because I'll get more wear for me money since they can stay on longer...I may only be changing him 4 times a day as opposed to maybe 8 times a day with another brand.

Overall, I am totally sold on Pampers. Yes, they are more money upfront, but will hold more and last longer. Also you can find coupons in the Sunday paper, online through their website, or also by signing up for their mail program.
